Redirecting A Microsite To A Main Site For Seo Benefit

Hi,

I have a microsite that ranks at one in Google for a primary keyword, but my main site ranks at number 5. I really want the main site to rank at position 1. I have done a 301 redirect from the microsite to the main site, but is this the best approach to benefit from the inbound links and authority of the microsite? The microsite is just a one pager and doesn’t offer any real value unlike the main site. Or is it better to have 2 results in the SERPS?
