Will Appending Querystring Elements To A Url Affect Seo Rankings?

for example:

www.example.asp

vs.

www.example.asp?linkid=blahblah

Would the 2 above be considered different by SEs? Are there any other drawbacks we should consider in using the 2nd version?

feedback appreciated!

Allow Us Based Ip To Crawl Website….

Hello from a snowy London!

Basically for legal reasons a disclaimer has to be placed on every page of my website - the website is based in Hungary and therefore every person who searches for the website must see this disclaimer, however only if they are searching from Hungary. Do you think the best method would be to setup an IP filter that would allow Googlebot to crawl the website or do you think there is a more suitable method?

If anyone has any tips on setting up this type of filter then please let me know!

Awstats

As clients become more aware of SEO, they enjoy looking in AWSTATS — then the questions begin smile.gif A few have become concerned when they see an adult site in their Referring Sites / Links from an external page (other web sites except search engines) when they don’t know how they got there. A link to their site isn’t anywhere to be seen to ask to be removed. It isn’t anything they should worry about is it?

Rankings Lost For The Second Time

Hi,

I have a website which index page suddenly lost all of its rankings, it was only ranking with the internal pages. After 3 months (a few days ago) it went back, recovering all of its rankings.

Yesterday it lost his rankings again, exactly the way it was before, do you think this is due to a roll back? I’ve heard there was a problem with Google’s algorythm yesterday maybe they backep up their data?

Does anyone knows what could have happened?

Thanks!,
Carlos.

Can I Build One Website And Use Same Content With 100’s Of Domain

Hello,

I am brand new to the site and tried to search for some answers, but really could not find anything. I hope someone can help me out.

I am looking to build one website design using the same content a few 100 times. It is a business referral website to market to certain States/Counties/Towns. I will only use very niche keyword phrases. I was thinking of getting only City/Town niche domain names.

If I use the same design/content over and over again - how much would it hurt? Or being that I am going for a very niche keyword phrase and get that domain name - would it hurt at all?

I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to read this and helping me out.

Or would it be best to get one domain name and make extensions from there. Something like:

abccompany.com/1townpainting

then:

abccompany.com/2townpainting

and so on…

Thanks again.

What Has Changed In Seo In Last 2 Years?

Hello Friends!

I haven’t been here in a quite a while, but it is you guys/gals who helped me cut my teeth on some serious SEO stuff. This site was/is so valuable to me.

I recall that many things are not written in stone when it comes to SEO, but in the last couple of years, what things appeared to have changed? I have not been studying SEO in the last 2 years, but I do have some good CD’s and books about it I use to study. I got the book ideas from here.

I’m guessing basic fundamentals are still the foundation of good SEO. It does intrigue me though to know what things have changed a bit in the last 2 years. I’m going to be building a few new sites again and if I did no studying at all about the changes that have appeared to be made in the last 2 years, what would I be missing? How/why would I be hurt if I didn’t know the new changes?

I would appreciate your feedback and input about this please!

How Will Going Multilanguage Affect My Seo ?

This is something that bothers me a lot these days. My website is in Bulgarian and it is going just perfect in the results. I want, however, to make an English translation of it.

On one hand, if I make the translation in mydomain.com/en for example, it would be considered simply as a page of my current website, on the other if I make it like a subdomain - en.mydomain.com - this simply looks bad.. I really wouldn’t change to mydomain.com/bg and mydomain.com/en since that would really damage my seo.

I just wonder whether someone has done that and what would be the best course of action…

Domain Names, Pointing And Seo!

Hi Folks!
I am new to this forum with some questions that I hope you can help me with. First let me say that the domains I am mentioning are not my actual domains to protect my privacy. I have a well-SEO’ed e-commerce art-related website that is about 7 months online and ranking very well for several of my target keywords. I have 3 domains pointing to my main domain. My main domain features my full business name (siennasartstudio.com). I have owned this domain since 2003. The three domains that I have pointing to this domain are: one that features my full name (siennabrown.com — owned since 2003), one that features the old name I was using for my business (www.sienna-studios.com — owned since 2002) and one that is a keyword rich domain highlighting a type of product I sell (lighthousesculptures.com — owned since 2008).

I thought having these pointing domains would help my rankings. All four are getting indexed by the search engines. But I have recently found out that pointing domains instead of doing 301 redirects can penalize your main site for duplicate content. I am getting conflicting information. What is the truth?

1 - Is having pointing domains really a bad thing or can it potentially be a good thing?
2 - Does the age of pointing domains help rankings any for the main domain? For instance, one of my pointing domains I’ve owned since 2002, a year before I owned the main domain the I use for my website.
2 -Does a pointing domain that includes keywords (lighthousesculptures.com) help rankings for my site?
3 - Would pointing domains with alternate extentions (.org, .net) for my primary domain help my rankings?
4 - Is it true that domains with .org extentions tend to rank higher than .com or .net?
5 - If I have my programmer make 301 redirects for all my pointing domains, the domains won’t even show up in search engines, right? If I want, say, lighthousesculptures.com to show up in search engines, but not be a pointing domain, I’d have to have it hosted somewhere and then just link it to my main domain, right?

Sorry this is so long. I hope you can help me!

Early April Fool’s?

Well it’s not April yet, so I guess Google must be having a bad morning. Surely they haven’t been hacked have they?

I’m getting Google’s malware warning for practically every site in every search I conduct this morning. I get the same warning behavior in every browser I have installed. No matter whether I’m using my normal IP as assigned by my ISP or if I go through a proxy.

It makes Google completely unusable since they ship you off to their warning page with no way to proceed to the real site. And their safebrowser diagnostic tool only produces a server error. Could it be that easy to mess with Google? Take their safebrowsing thingee offline and screw with every search?

If it’s a hack, I’ve gotta admit it’s a pretty funny one!
