Overnight Drop In Traffic

Hi,

The # of visitors to my site dropped from an average of 12,000 visitors a day to 2,000 overnight. It’s a travel website, so I thought maybe it was due to the storms yesterday in the East - but that seems a little drastic.

I’ve confirmed with my website host that there weren’t any server problems.

I checked a few phrases that I ranked high for a couple of weeks ago (from google webmaster tools). Some I still rank high for, but many are not. Has google done a recent change to their algorithm? I have many listing pages with the same intro on the top of the pages - so maybe I am getting penalized for duplicate content now where I wasn”t in the past.

I have made some changes to the home page, but there are thousands of pages on the website and I do not think that would cause the whole site to perform poorly.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed? I am running a link checker to check for bad links.
