Change Meta Description Even Though G Rankings Good?

Hi-

This site i’m working on has a Meta description that reads like a list of keywords separated by pipe characters. since the description is important for people clicking through from SERPs, i was planning to change it. But, the page has really good search engine visibility for the important phrases and it makes me not want to change anything. I can’t naturally incorporate as many phrases as are currently in there.

I know it’s debatable whether the words in the Meta description are used for determining relevance.. but i think it’s at least somewhat important, and at least worth some time to make sure keywords are incorporated.

I really don’t want to find out the hard way that it was a bad idea to change the meta description.

so is this a “do it for the user and make the description a sentence even if there’s a risk” thing or is it a “if it aint broke don’t fix it” thing?
